To stimulate excellence and encourage talent, a number of Medals & Awards have been instituted.  The following Medals and Awards are available:

1. The Mitchell Medal: This is for exceptionally good Paper contributed to the Indian Roads Congress in any year.  This has been instituted to perpetuate Sir Kenneth Mitchell’s connection with the Congress

2. The Indian Roads Congress Medal: This is for Papers considered to be of a decidedly more than average merit

3. Maharashtra PWD Medal for Best Paper on Construction

4. Bihar PWD Medal for Outstanding Paper on Road Research

5. CPWD Medal for Best Paper on Maintenance

6. Commendation Certificates for Significant Work

7. Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Birth Centenary Award for young engineers for conspicuously important and outstanding contribution on Road Development in India.

8. Life Time Achievement Award in recognition of life time contribution made in the profession of engineering. (Instituted in 2015)

9. IRC – U.P. Medal for Innovative Technology in Roads
